Platform Protection (LARC)
Mjolner is the world’s first developer of ballistic nano-gradient metal-ceramic coating, purpose-built to defense platforms.
Designed for direct retrofit, our ultra-thin prefabricated sheets bolt or rivet onto existing hulls, instantly upgrading them to STANAG 4569 Level 3-6 protection, superior multi-hit resilience, and up to 80% weight reduction.
This technology supercharges current armour platforms - enhancing ballistic performance, reducing fuel burn, and increasing range - without the need for structural redesign. Installable in hours, Mjolner armour maximizes vehicle survivability.
Enhanced Platform Survivability
Our Nano-Gradient Metal-Ceramic coating uses the existing armour hull as a hard backer, breaking and slowing the projectile before it reaches the base armour - drastically cutting penetration and boosting protection with minimal added weight. It acts as a sacrificial layer.

-
Vehicles can maintain the same ballistic protection level while reducing armour thickness by up to 80%.
-
For a 48m^2 vehicle surface area, not including vehicle hull - Mjolner's Level 5 estimation at <4t, Level 6 estimation at~7t. PG-7 protection without ERA at estimated 12-14t.

REPLACING LEGACY
ADDON ARMOUR
-
Current add-on armour kits, like the JLTV’s Kit B, can add 2–2.3 tons to a vehicle. 40-60mm in addon thickness.
-
With LARC, the same STANAG Level 4 protection can be achieved at only 300–400 kg, 2mm in addon thickness. Significant weight savings and improved multi-hit performance.

SIMPLE
ENHANCMENT
-
Standard light vehicle hulls made from ~7 mm armour steel (STANAG Level 1) can be upgraded to Level 3 with coated panels alone.
-
Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) can be enhanced to NIJ 3+/ VPAM8/STANAG Level 2 protection.

IFV Weight Optimisation
-
Enables Infantry Fighting Vehicles to achieve STANAG 4569 Level 5 ballistic protection while dramatically reducing vehicle curb weight.
Enhanced All-Round Protection for Existing Platforms
-
Upgrades legacy IFVs and APCs to provide full-coverage STANAG Level 4 hull protection with only a minimal increase in mass, removing the need for heavy & bulky ceramic add-on armour kits.
Light Vehicle Survivability Upgrade
-
Elevates light tactical vehicles from STANAG Level 1 to Level 3 protection using coating alone, delivering substantial survivability improvements without compromising mobility.

AVIATION SYSTEM ARMOUR COATING

Current rotorcraft and transport aircraft armour solutions are often limited to small-arms protection, with significant weight penalties.
With our coating, there are two upgrade paths:
Weight Reduction
-
Maintain the existing protection level at approximately 40% of the current armour weight, freeing up hundreds of kilograms for payload or fuel.
Protection Upgrade
-
Maintain the current weight and significantly increase protection to resist heavy machine-gun and anti-aircraft fire (up to STANAG 4569 Level 4), safeguarding crew, passengers, and critical systems.

Our technology enables small naval platforms - such as patrol boats, fast attack craft, and special operations vessels - to achieve STANAG 4569 Level 3-4 ballistic protection with minimal impact on performance.
Targeted Hardening
-
Cockpit/bridge, weapon mounts, engine bays, and gunwales can be selectively up-armoured within hours while maintaining speed, range and payload.
Low Mass Impact
-
Delivers meaningful ballistic uplift with minimal weight added, preserving range and manoeuvrability.

UNMANNED SYSTEM ARMOUR COATING

For UAVs, UGVs, USVs, and robotic quadrupeds, the coating supercharges the existing hull to resist NIJ3+/VPAM 8 threats.
Ultra-thin panels bolt or rivet directly onto the robotic platform as a strike face.
Traditional solutions like steel are too heavy, and ceramics are impractical for complex shapes.
Our upgrade solutions protects the robot’s core structure and vital systems with minimum impact on mobility, range, or payload capacity.

Custom Fit for Complex Shapes
For intricate components, sheets can be pre-formed to exact specifications.
Pre-Cut, Ready-to-Apply Panels
Coated sheets can be applied to virtually any surfaces, allowing armour to be built up exactly where needed.

FLEXIBLE
APPLICATION
-
Cut & Shape - Coated sheets can be cut to size and shaped to match flat or curved surfaces using standard workshop tools without degrading ballistic performance.
-
Mjolner enables easy customization for complex geometries.

MULTIPLE MOUNTING METHODS
-
Drill & Bolt - Mounting holes can be cut directly through the sheets, enabling secure bolting to hulls, bulkheads, or frames.
-
Rivet & Weld- Panels can be rapidly fitted using rivets or secured by welding for a clean, low-profile attachment where mechanical fasteners are impractical.

DIY & RAPID
REPLACEMENT
-
Rapid Replacement - Post ballistic impact, damaged panels can be removed and replaced to preserve hull armour integrity.
-
Field DIY - The same process can be carried out in the field to cut, fit, and install panels onto other systems, supercharging their protection onsite within hours.
