NGAM 03 - ARMOUR BLOCK

LAR-M

A novel armour material under development at Mjolner. Designed to address the highest tier of kinetic energy threats — STANAG K5–K6+ and APFSDS — with next generational areal densities and defeat mechanisms.

- SYSTEM OVERVIEW

Long-Rod.
APFSDS.
No redesign.

LAR-M is being developed to close the protection gap at the top of the kinetic energy threat spectrum. The long-rod threat class — WC APDS and APFSDS — represents the defining survivability challenge in near-peer conflict environments. Existing armour solutions are addressing it with significant mass penalties.

LAR-M is an independently developed novel material. Its design target is light-weight, high-end KE defeat armour block layer which replaces or enhances exisiting NERA / legacy armour.
