Every variant in the NGAM family is a novel material developed and owned by Mjolner — not a modification of an existing armour system. Each is independently engineered for a specific threat tier and platform class, from lightweight FSP defeat through to ballistic and the highest-end kinetic threats.

Each material is independently optimised for its specific mission parameters: threat profile, platform mass constraints, installation environment, and service life requirements.

LAR-C

STANAG K2–K4+ · AA/ASM FSP · ERA-Enabled

​​A novel strike-face material developed by Mjolner. LAR-C is supplied as very-thin prefabricated panels for integration onto existing armour structures. The system is intended to provide better ballistic performance, preserve mobility, and reduce the mass burden associated with conventional protection. 

KINETIC ENERGY

Ballistic Defeat

Full STANAG 4569 threat coverage from Level 1 through Level 4+. Defeats steel-core AP and tungsten-carbide threats at next-generation areal densities.

AIRCRAFT & NAVAL PROTECTION

AA + ASM FSP

Specialised anti-aircraft + Anti-ship missile fragmentation defeat for naval deck applications. No polymer degradation pathway — no resin, no UV exposure sensitivity, no saltwater corrosion mechanism.

PERSONAL PROTECTION

NIJ/VPAM

LAR-C is the strike face of Mjolner's NG-ISS personal protection system.
Paired with BAR-M as the structural backer, the LAR-C + BAR-M stack targets next-generation areal density performance that no current body armour architecture can reach.

LAR-A

FSP Threats · Minimum Areal Density

A novel Mjolner-developed material optimised for high velocity  fragment-defeating performance at a very-low areal density. LAR-A is purpose-built for platforms where mass is the primary constraint.

AIRCRAFT PROTECTION

Rotary & Fixed Wing

Rotorcraft and transport aircraft operate under strict mass budgets. LAR-A delivers AA FSP protection, increasing aircraft survivability without payload compromises.

UNMANNED

UAS / UGV Platforms

Unmanned platforms operating in active AA & FSP environments cannot trade endurance or payload for protection. LAR-A doesn't ask them to.

LAR-M

STANAG K5–K6+ · APFSDS · Long-Rod Threats

A novel Mjolner-developed material targeting STANAG K5 through K6+ and APFSDS rounds. LAR-M addresses the long-rod threat class at next-generation areal densities, without requiring structural modification to the host platform.

HIGH KINETIC ENERGY

Long Rod Penetrator Defeat

LAR-M targets the threat class at the top of the kinetic energy threat spectrum — long-rod penetrators from modern APDS/APFSDS rounds. The programme targets a 30% reduction in armour weight.

MEDIUM PLATFORMS

APC Enhancement

LAR-M targets total areal density for STANAG 4569 K6–K7 at 150–190 kg/m² — a credible upgrade pathway for Allied APCs operating in near-peer threat environments, without hull redesign.

HEAVY PLATFORMS

IFV & MBT Enhancement

IFVs and main battle tanks requiring protection beyond their base armour's capability. LAR-M integrates directly into their armour modules, extending protection to the highest threat levels.

A novel Mjolner-developed material purpose-built for body armour and structural applications. BAR-M is independently engineered from the ground up for the ultra-low areal density, thickness, and backface deformation requirements of worn protection systems.

Body Armour Systems — MK2

Next-generation body armour plates delivering protection against tnear-peer dismounted threat profiles at a fraction of the weight and thickness of advanced ceramic solutions. 

HEAD PROTECTION

Helmet Systems — MK1

BAR-M is the material basis for the MK1 helmet system — VPAM 8 rated, sub-10 mm backface deformation, under 1.4 kg. Engineered to reduce blast-to-brain injury (bTBI) while maintaining AP ballistic protection.
